Cookie season has finally arrived, and I’m here for it!
These cookies are very famous in Europe and we typically bake them around Christmas. Sometimes it’s just nostalgia that makes us swoon over a taste of the past, but in this case, familiarity is unnecessary. These crescent cookies are absolutely incredible. With their vanilla-infused flavor and melt-in-your-mouth shortbread-like texture, it just doesn’t feel like Christmas without them.
A bit of history that has nothing to do with Christmas: these delicious shortbread cookies originated in Austria around 400 years ago to celebrate their victory over the Ottoman Empire. The locals created this pastry based on the crescent moon found on the Turkish flag.
